Oleg Borisovich Chen

A renowned Russian weightlifter and a two-time European Champion. Born on November 22, 1988, in Almaty, Kazakh SSR, Soviet Union, Oleg has been active in the sport since 2010. He has competed in the 69 kg weight category and has represented Russia at various international competitions.

Achievements:

  • World Championships: Medals in 2011 (Paris), 2013 (Wrocław), and 2015 (Houston).

  • European Championships: Titles in 2013 (Tirana), 2014 (Tel Aviv), and 2017 (Split).

Background: Oleg's father was Korean, and his mother was half Hungarian, half Russian. At the age of 11, his family moved to Novosibirsk, and he now resides in Anapa. His diverse background and rich heritage have shaped his approach to weightlifting.

Marin Heavy Athletics: In the wake of the current international crisis, Oleg was forced to flee an unfriendly regime with his family (Anita, Benjamin, and Timur), carrying nothing but four suitcases. Finding a new home at Marin Heavy Athletics, Oleg brings his extensive experience and passion for weightlifting to our community.

Coaching Philosophy: Oleg's coaching emphasizes the practice of Olympic Lifts, including snatch and clean and jerk, along with all associated strength protocols. He leads group sessions for all skill levels and offers individualized programming to help athletes progress towards their goals.
